The good old hot knife. If your parents grew up in the 70s, 80s, or 90s and they know you smoke weed, ask them about hot knifing. I bet they know what it is, and so will you by the end of this article. You will also learn how to hot knife, so you don’t burn yourself or your house down.

Why do you need to know this? Well lets just say it sucks having no weed but having concentrate and no dab rig. With this method all you need is some knives, a way to heat them up to red hot, and some concentrate. This’ll be a quick one so lets get into it.

The Setup

Acquire the Supplies

If you haven’t gotten the supplies yet then get with the program. You should have everything already at your house, unless you live in a crack house with only plastic utensils. Anyways here’s a list:

• 2 butter knives(not your mom’s good ones)
• Some cannabis concentrate, or even flower
• A heat source like a stovetop(unless induction), a propane fireplace, a torch
• Optional: water bottle (cut the bottom off so you can use like a reverse funnel for the smoke)

Preparing the Smoke Station

This goes much smoother if you have a process and a “station” set up if you want to call it that. Near the heat source, I’ll refer to as my stove from now on, get your knives, and your cannabis concentrate or flower.

If your concentrate is in one of them silicone jars, transfer the desired amount of concentrate(or dab) to something that is melt proof like a small plate, or better yet one of the knives. If you’re going to hot knife cannabis flower, just have it sitting on a non melt/flammable surface.

Smoke Time

Now that you have everything ready, heat up your knife ends until its red hot. I like to make sure its red about half an inch from the very end.

Once the knife/knives are hot, you are ready to go. If you are smoking flower, touch one of the knives to the flower and give it a little press and the heat should make it stick right to the knife. Then you quickly press the other hot knife to it. Inhale that vapor. It would be rude to call the fumes coming off smoke. You’re basically vaporizing the weed. The precursor to the dry herb vape.

If you are smoking(dabbing) concentrate, then just touch the knife with the concentrate to the hot knife and inhale away.

The bottle I explained before can make this much, much easier so you don’t waste any smoke.

And there you have it, you have officially learned how to hot knife. It ain’t rocket science but do be careful around hot metal and/or flames. I have a few scars to show for my carelessness.. or my highness. Who cares, live and learn. Smoke on amigos!
